Supershock Me

As you may know, as of January 1st 2009, one of my new years resolutions is to shock my body and see what happens when I eat nothing but all natural foods. I'm going to see how long I can keep it up (at least one month) and see what happens. I'll be updating everyone once a week with blood pressure readings, blood sugar levels, weight, and general demeanor of how I feel.

I'm really curious to see just what happens to us when we give up ALL the pop, and cookies, and cake, and pop tarts, and energy drinks, and sugar cereal, and salad dressings, and ketchup, and BBQ sauces.

As you can see, this will be outrageously strict!!! NOTHING can be refined, processed, or colored. It's ALL natural or not at all. That goes for sugar and flour too, they are both processed and refined and colored unnaturally. I'll be using sugar cane and honey for sweeteners. No cereal other than oatmeal. No milk, cheese, yogurt, sour cream, margarine!!! No beef, chicken, fish, pork, eggs!!! If I do choose to eat meat, I must raise and slaughter it myself so I know that it isn't full of antibiotics and growth hormone chemicals. And since I have NO animals to slaughter, I guess I won't be eating any meat! No eggs either since last time I checked my 2 rooster are not capable of performing this particular function.

Now a lot of people have told me how expensive it is to eat this way, but I have to disagree. I went shopping the other day and found that certain things are cheap .. I mean DIRT cheap to eat, and those things are going to be some of the big staples of this way of eating. Don't get me wrong, I know that there is a lot of fruit and stuff that is expensive. Not to mention, if you went and bought all the labels that say "All Natural" in the store ... you would go broke. But to me, that seems like the 'yuppy' way to do this. Just buying all the stuff that companies put out to make you feel good while charging you three times the price at the same time. Sounds like a typical American stupidity act to buy these prepackaged things that have the "All Natural" label on them. Piss on you!!! I want my rice in a 20 lb cloth bag with Chinese writing all over it. I want my rolled oats in a flour sack. THAT'S how you get cheap food!!! Not by buying the 'Uncle Bens All Natural Yuppy wild rice blend'!! EAT MY NUTSACK UNCLE BEN!!! I'll do it myself for 90% less money.

I did buy a few things and I would like to let you know just how they rank on the cost scale.

Potatoes - 20 lb bag for $4.00. That's only 20 cents per pound. Not bad for hash browns, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, and baked potatoes.

Oatmeal - Only 7 cents a serving !!! This is amazingly cheap!! Add a little honey for some 'stick to your rib' breakfast that will stay with you for several hours.

Bread - I couldn't find a way around this one. All Natural bread is expensive. About 22 cents per slice VS the cheap white dough ball bread running only 11 cents a slice. But hey, it is a lot better for you and I like it.

Rice - Another amazingly cheap food. Now I got screwed and paid about 10 cents per serving as I couldn't find a good bulk bag right away so I just bought a 5 lb bag instead. But you can easily get this stuff down to 2 or 3 cents per serving by getting the bigger bag instead. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP !!!!

Then of course there are other ingredients like onions, and garlic, and stuff for adding to your meals to spice them up a bit. But all in all, those items are pretty cheap also. Not to mention, this summer they will ALL be FREE because they will come from MY GARDEN !!!

I did get screwed on the bread, and honey is expensive too. The good thing is I don't use much honey. Other things like all natural peanut butter wasn't much more than your Skippy that you use, and I gotta admit .. it tastes a lot better too. Raisins aren't that cheap either, but as long as I use them IN food instead of eating them straight out .. they should last quite a long time. I also bought some fruit and nuts that were in season to keep the price down a bit.

And finally, I know what your thinking. Enjoy eating rice and oatmeal for the next month. I realize that my menu is somewhat sparse, but I'm just starting this thing dammit!! Give me some time. I haven't even begun to explore all the stuff that's really out there, I just made one quick trip to the store. I'm sure I'll pick up a book or tips on the internet and soon have a plethora of choices to eat from.

And lastly .. why the hell am I doing this?

1. I don't work.
2. Life is boring, even if I had a job.
3. People are stupid. Eating crap, then getting medicine to conquer the pain of eating crap.
4. I'm out to change the way people live .. well at least how I live!!
5. I'm going to be self sufficient someday, and this is step one.
6. I gotta loose some weight.
7. I'm damn curious to see what happens to the body when it's fed what 'IT' wants, instead of feeding it what 'WE' give it. I think it will be a BIG surprise on just how the body reacts to this change!
8. IT'S THE STATE OF LES!!! Quit asking questions!!

Todays RBV Deuteronomy 25:11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

Ha ha ha ... I love it. Basically this says if your wife has you 'By the Balls', cut off Her hand!! Now I'll leave that up to you if you want to take this symbollically or literally.
