Okinawans

The Okinawans, in Japan, live longer than any of us on earth. And especially longer than us fat, lazy Americans.

Lots of studies have been done about these unique people to find out just what makes these people live so long. I've always thought it was stupid to conduct massive studies on their blood, and DNA, and such ... looking for the magic clue on why they have such great longevity. It seems fairly simple to Me, IT'S THE DIET STUPID!!! They don't have a Burger King and McDonalds at every corner! They eat veggies, and rice, and tofu. And lots of it! Their idea of variety in a meal is not meat, potatoes, cake, and ice cream .. it's a red tomato, a yellow pepper, orange carrots, lots of green leafy foods.

They also have a unique way of tricking the body into thinking it's full before it really is. They have a saying, "Quit eating when your 80% full". Well it's actually "HingHo saquinshin ahahbasti tevihstuialu", or something like that. Anyway, they don't stuff themselves at all you can eat buffets like we do. They have a very simple, nutritious diet of fruits, veggies, and grains.

Here are some interesting tidbits about the Okinawan people.

- Most of them live to be about 90 years old, and are still unassisted and healthy! Yeah, at age 90 they are still out plowing up the garden and living life like always. Try that with an American 90 year old.

- They have more people over the age 100 than anywhere else in the world.

- They have the lowest rate of cancer, heart disease, and strokes than anywhere else in the world.

It actually goes on and on, but I think you can figure out that most all areas of their lives are improved by the lifestyle they live.

So My hat goes off the the Okinawans, probably some of the smartest, simplest, happiest people on the earth today. The only downside I can see is living to be 120 years old, but that's just My opinion. I guess I feel that 60 is a good age to throw in the towel. If you haven't done anything or seen enough stuff by then, what the hell is another 60 years gonna do for ya?
