Scare Tactics

Here's a useful tip you won't find on Heloise or Ann Landers. Quit watching the news!! Personally, I quit watching TV all together, which for almost everyone out there is next to impossible to do. But at least quit watching the news. It's all scare tactics, no matter if it's the war in Iraq, terrorism, some deadly new flu outbreak, hurricanes, fires, your work, or your bowl of Wheaties. It's all the same ... nothing but scare tactics. Keep you in fear as much as possible so you feel the need to have government take care of you, and personally, that's the last person I'd like watching my back.

Yes, I just quit watching TV all together, and listening to the news on the radio, and reading the paper. And you know what? Life continues on as always without me knowing a bunch of worthless crap. All I need to know is an occasional click on the internet to a news site to see if the end of the world is tomorrow so I can call in sick. Other than that, there really isn't much out there. I don't care to much about a bunch of strangers I don't know that died, or how many people are in court, or a picture of a guy raking his leaves to remind me that fall is coming. Most of the things the news tells me I figure out just fine on my own. And the neat thing is, if it's important enough, I find out, and I don't have the "spin" on it from reading or watching it over and over through various news outlets.

People make small talk with me all the time. Such as "Did you hear about that (whatever) at (wherever) yesterday?". To which I respond, "NOPE, didn't hear, don't care." I figure I have a wife and kids to care about, then my family and friends. Everyone else is kinda on their own. I don't have the compassion or the will to try and care about everyone out there. Just worry about yourself. I'm sorry that "so and so" died in a 4 wheeler accident at the lake last weekend but you know what, I never heard of him so he's one of probably 1000's of people that died in the world yesterday.

In my opinion, if the United States would just worry about themselves and stop needing to know everything, we wouldn't have half the world hating us because were building bases on every country known to man. I'd say half of them don't want us there, and the other half don't care. Stay or leave, it don't matter, there going to continue to kill each other over who's God is greater no matter what you do. They been doing it for thousands of years and will continue for thousands more. But the U.S. stationed all over the world is way to big of a subject for this blog and deserves a blog all to itself so I'll quit.

Just think about all that doom and gloom on the news today, and how it affects YOUR everyday life. Not the life of everyone, JUST YOU. Did it really matter? Did your life drastically change because there was an e'coli in a House of Pancakes in southern Florida? Did life stop because Iran is enriching more uranium? Tell you what, if that day comes when Iran reaches that goal, your skin will start glowing, THEN you can turn on the news and check the headlines. Chances are, 90% of the doom and gloom you here really has little affect on your daily life, and the other 10% you'll find out about on your own or won't care anyway.

So live your life how you will, but if your interested in trying something a bit different for a while I highly recommend not paying attention to the world for a week or two. It will still be there when you get back, and if your like me, you don't really want to go back, and hopefully I never will.

Todays RBV:

James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

This is EXACTLY why brainwashed people in critical condition refuse treatment and then die. In From interpreting verses like this. Oh well, more stupid people die. Where's the downside ?

Also, Me, along with at least 50 other people had "faith" in prayer to save the sick when my Father was in critical condition several years ago. Guess what? He died anyway .. way to go God, and you wonder why I'm a non-believer?
