Yesterday was Charles Darwin's 2ooth Birthday!!
I'm sad to say that 200 years later only 39% of Americans believe in the theory of evolution. This is 'proof positive' that MY theory that 'Americans are getting dumber' is undeniably true.
There is some good new however. If you break down who believes in what ... the news does get little brighter.
- Only 24% of active churchgoers believe in evolution (Yeah ... it's called brainwashing! Don't forget to put 5 bucks in the basket before you leave!)
- 55% of people who never or seldom attend church believe in evolution.
- 36% don't have an opinion either way. (Typical for Americans - don't wanna disturb their lifestyles and THINK about something since they have a cell phone that makes pancakes for them already.)
- Only 21% of people with a high school education or less believes in evolution. (Hmmmmm - the dumber you are, the more likely you cannot grasp new, scientific ideas)
- A MASSIVE 74% of people with college degrees believe in evolution. (Hmmmmm - the smarter you are, the more you can grasp onto smart, logical ideas)
- And finally, and most importantly ... 99% of scientist believe in evolution. And if I had to invest my future in religious nut jobs or science with PROOF ... I'll take science any day!! Because, as you know, one group will explain how they came up with this idea, with science, and proof, and studies that have been gone through by people throughout the world. And the other group will just try to scare the crap out of you and keep you living in fear about myths and folk lore ... while taking your money!

So in closing, happy birthday Darwin. You are one of the greatest people of our time. I'm just sorry to say that 200 years later, only 39% of Americans believe your theory. Which just goes to prove that evolution is truly a slow, slow process!!!!!!!!!!
